ITS Cavour arrived in Pakistan

The arrival of the Italian Navy Carrier Strike Group, comprising the Aircraft Carrier ITS Cavour (C 550) and the Frigate ITS Alpino (F 594), in Pakistan marks a significant moment in the international and diplomatic relations between Italy and Pakistan. The Cavour, one of the flagship vessels of the Italian Navy, docked at the port of Karachi for a three-day visit, receiving a warm welcome from local authorities, including senior officials of the Pakistan Navy and the Italian Ambassador to Pakistan.

This stop is part of a broader mission of the Italian Naval Group in Southeast Asia and the Indian Ocean, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and fostering maritime and defense cooperation. The mission, which saw the participation of the Aircraft Carrier Cavour, a symbol of the technological and operational excellence of the Italian Navy, was designed to promote maritime security, joint training, and the exchange of expertise with the navies of the nations visited.

During this visit, the Naval Group engaged in joint naval exercises with the Pakistan Navy, contributing to enhancing operational collaboration and sharing strategies for the safety and stability of the region. Additionally, meetings were scheduled between the Italian and Pakistani delegations to discuss further cooperation opportunities, both in the military and economic spheres.

The Italian Ambassador to Pakistan, present at the event, emphasized the importance of this visit in solidifying the ties between the two countries, highlighting how military diplomacy and naval cooperation can play a key role in developing stronger international relations and promoting peace and stability on a global scale.

As the Cavour’s mission draws to a close, it has served as a tangible example of Italy’s commitment to the Far East and the Indian Ocean region, not only from a security perspective but also in terms of promoting values of collaboration and international development.
