French (and NATO) eyes and ears on Kosovo

This morning, we tracked a SIGINT mission carried out over Kosovo.

A French Air Force Beechcraft B.350ER ALSR (reg. F-RACH) took off from Preveza airport in Greece (which also hosts a NATO base) and headed north.

The B350 is operated by 1/54 Squadron”Dunkerque” (electronic warfare unit of the French Air Force).

The ALSR (ALSR, light surveillance/reconnaissance aircraft) King Airs are flown by the Armée de l’Air (French air force) on a range of ISR tasks to support the Direction du Renseignement Militaire (military intelligence agency) and the Direction Générale de la Sécurité Extérieure (external security agency).

For several hours, it orbited over Kosovo near the border with Serbia.

Such missions are not uncommon, as we have previously tracked other SIGINT missions conducted by NATO assets near the Serbian borders.
