Visiting “Averof” cruiser

We made an interesting visit to the Greek cruiser “Averof,” a ship built in 1911 in Livorno, Italy, and now a museum ship anchored in Faliro, near Athens. The ship is a “Pisa” class cruiser that included two ships built for Italy (Pisa and Amalfi) and one for the Greek navy, the Averof.

The Averof took part in the Balkan Wars, World War I, the war with Turkey, and World War II, until it was decommissioned in 1952. Fortunately, it was decided to save it and transform it into a floating museum.

Here is a brief photo gallery of our visit.
