Blackcat’s eyes on Syria

This morning we have tracked a new misison missions carried out by a Northrop Grumman MQ-4C Triton (reg. 169660 – c/s BLACKCAT6). This drone is primarily used for surveillance and intelligence gathering operations.

The intense surveillance activity in the region is not coincidental. The Syrian coast hosts the Russian naval base of Tartus, a strategic point of great importance.

Even though the presence of the Russian fleet is currently quite reduced, the port of Tartus (and the nearby airbase at Latakia) are two crucial points for the supply of Russian troops stationed in the region.
