Triton is once again monitoring Tobruk

This morning we are tracking a new mission of a US Navy drone, the Northrop Grumman MQ-4C “Triton” (registration 169659 – call sign TRITON19), launched from NAS Sigonella.

As has happened in the past, the drone is conducting a surveillance mission off the coast of Libya, specifically off Tobruk.

As we mentioned in another post (click here to read the post), Tobruk is becoming, at least de facto, a Russian naval base, as Moscow uses the city’s port in Cyrenaica as a hub to unload weapons and materials destined for its mercenaries operating in Libya.

The proximity of the Libyan city to the NATO base of Souda Bay and those in southern Italy has certainly raised alarms in the US, which is monitoring the situation very closely.
