Triton’s eyes on Libya

Yesterday we published an article reporting how Torbuk, in eastern Libya, is becoming, if not formally, at least in substance, the Russian gateway to Libya (find the post here).

Today we are tracking the first mission of the US Navy drone Northrop Grumman MQ-4C “Triton” (reg. 169659 – c/s TRITON19) that recently arrived in NAS Sigonella.

And where is the mission taking place? Exactly off the coast of Tobruk.

The drone is orbiting in international waters, between Libya and Crete, where it can monitor what is happening in eastern Libya, probably with particular attention following the shipments of weapons and personnel that Russia has conducted in recent weeks from the Syrian port of Tartus.
