USS Ford off eastern Libya

Yesterday, the aircraft carrier USS Gerald Ford (CVN-78) left the port of Piraeus after a few days of stopover.

Most likely, the ship, along with its Carrier Strike Group, is headed towards the southern Adriatic Sea.
However, it’s not certain that the journey to the operational area is direct.

In fact, this afternoon, the carrier appears to be off the eastern coast of Libya. In the area, a USN MH-60R (reg. 168113) is operating, and even more telling, a USN Grumman C-2A (reg. 162159), which took off from NAS Sigonella, is headed right there.

In the coming days, we’ll see if the ship will operate in the area or proceed, as planned, to the Adriatic.
