A USNavy Lockheed EP-3E ‘Aries II’ (reg. 159887) took off this morning from Souda Bay base at 11:14 CEST.

The aircraft headed south to carry out a surveillance mission off Libya.

We do not have a complete track but we do know that for at least half an hour, around 12 noon, it operated off Tripoli.

These types of missions are not unusual and yesterday we tracked a similar mission conducted by an RAF Boeing RC-135W.

The Aries is returning in these minutes (18:00 CEST) to Crete.
