Another Russian ship entered the Mediterranean sea

A Russian vessel entered the Mediterranean again. It is the tanker Vyazma, which departed on 15 May from Murmansk and is bound for Tartus, Syria.
The ship is sailing alone and is not accompanying any other military unit.

This is the third Russian auxiliary unit that has entered the Mediterranean in the last month, while the presence of units of the Russian fleet remains at a minimum, which to date can only count on the following ships:

  • Frigate Admiral Gorshkov, armed with hypersonic missiles
  • Corvette Orekhovo-Zuyevo
  • Minesweeper Vladimir Emelyanov
  • Krasnodar Kilo-class submarine

It will now have to be seen whether the unit will replace the tanker Kama, already present in tartus, or whether it will instead serve to escort the Admiral Gorshkov, on her return voyage to Murmansk.
