Waiting for transit in the Suez Canal

The Russian Navy tanker Kama (and the frigate Admiral Gorshkov) are sailing in the northern part of the Red Sea.

Based on their route, it appears that they are waiting for authorization to enter the Suez Canal.

The two ships have been in navigation since early January and have the Syrian port of Tartus in the Mediterranean as their final destination. The Admiral Gorshkov would be armed with new Zircon hypersonic cruise missiles. This would be the first time Russia has deployed an armed unit with this type of weaponry in the Mediterranean theater.
