Truman’s deployment continues (and will be extended)

A USNavy Grumman C-2A (reg. 162157) is flying towards NAS Sigonella. The aircraft has departed from the US Navy aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) which is sailing in the Ionian Sea.

We do not know exactly where it is, but in recent weeks it has moved from the southern Adriatic to the Ionian Sea.

The satellite photo shown in the image was taken on 6 April off the coast of Calabria when the American aircraft carrier (and its carrier strike group, CSG) was shadowed by an Udaloy Class destroyer (probably Admiral Kulakov).

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has decided to keep the USS Truman and its CSG on duty for longer than originally anticipated. One defense official told USNI News the carrier could remain in the region until August before returning back to its homeport in Norfolk.
