The task group of the Russian Navy cruiser Marshall Ustinov is in the Ionian Sea.
Its last known position, this afternoon at 17.00 CET, was west of the Greek island of Zakynthos.
These days the CSG of the USS Truman is expected to be in the southern Adriatic.
The Taranto naval base, the Italian Navy’s main base, is less than 200 miles away from Ustinov’s position.
The Greek frigate Hydra (F-452), which took part in the rescue of the ferry Euroferry Olympia in recent days, is certainly in the Ionian Sea at the moment.
Two days ago, the Italian aircraft carrier Garibaldi (C551) left the port of Taranto, while tomorrow the exercise Dynamic Manta 2022, in which various NATO naval units will take part, gets underway.
This evening we tracked a mission of two USNavy Boeing P-8As that departed from Sigonella and carried out a reconnaissance mission right in the area where the Ustinov would be located.
