Today, military air traffic in the Black Sea region has shown intense surveillance activity by allied forces, particularly the United States. We tracked several reconnaissance aircraft operating between Romania, Bulgaria, and international waters of the Black Sea, near Crimea.

The image shows the presence of three main aircraft engaged in intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions:

  1. Bombardier 650 ARTEMIS (US Navy – Registration N488CR): This electronic reconnaissance aircraft specializes in signal and radar data collection. Its route followed an extensive pattern over Romania, particularly in the northeastern region and along the border with Moldova, suggesting advanced monitoring activities;
  2. Boeing P-8A Poseidon (US Navy): This maritime patrol aircraft is also used to carry out SIGINT mission. In this case the aircraft operated orbiting over the Danube Delta;
  3. Boeing RC-135V Rivet Joint (USAF – Registration 64-14844): This strategic reconnaissance aircraft is equipped with sophisticated electronic sensors to intercept communications and analyze enemy radar emissions. Its flight path indicates long-range surveillance over the Black Sea, near Crimea and Russian territorial waters.
