B-52s over Italy

A pair of USAF Boeing B-52H bombers (reg. 60-0037 & 60-0007) have been orbiting over central Italy, northeast of Rome, for about an hour.

The two bombers departed from RAF Fairford in the United Kingdom, where they have been based for several weeks. It is possible that Italian aircraft are also operating in the area, even though no traces of them are visible.

Both aircraft are capable of carrying nuclear weapons (it is worth noting that not all USAF B-52s have this capability).
