At this moment (08:30 CET), two USAF Boeing B-52H bombers (reg. 60-0023 & 60-0040) are en route to the eastern Mediterranean.

The two bombers took off from the UK’s RAF Fairford base, where they arrived last week from the United States. They were refueled east of Sicily by four Boeing KC-135R tankers, which also departed from the UK, and are now continuing their flight eastward.

After refueling in flight over the Mediterranean, the Stratotankers return to RAF Mildenhall.

Periodically, USAF bombers are deployed to the UK, from where they conduct demonstration missions over the Mediterranean, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe.
