The deadlock in Tartus has been resolved

After approximately three weeks, the situation in Tartus, Syria, seems to be unlocking.

After nearly 14 days, the Russian ship Sparta, which entered the Mediterranean at the begin of the year, has been authorized to dock at the port of Tartus.

The ship had been sailing at an extremely low speed off the coast of Tartus, awaiting permission to enter the Syrian port. The Sparta, along with her sister ship Sparta II, at least one Russian Navy landing ship, and a tanker, had been waiting to dock at the Syrian port.

There, they are expected to load Russian equipment and materials to be transported back to Russia (or possibly elsewhere) following Moscow’s withdrawal from the Middle Eastern country.
