Tonight, a US Navy Northrop Grumman MQ-4C (reg. 169660 – c/s BLACKCAT5), took off from NAS Sigonella and carried out a SIGINT mission over the Eastern Mediterranean.

As shown on the map, the drone focused its operations off the Syrian coast but also monitored the entire eastern coastline of the Mediterranean basin, including Lebanon, Israel, and eastern Egypt.

Currently (10:00 CET), BLACKCAT is returning to Sigonella.

  • When you see how much the Global Hawk is being used these days, you can only understand that it is a very good aircraft for intelligence gathering . also the more they fly the cheaper it becomes to use them . just strange that we the NATO specimens are somewhat airspace shy. not seen for a long time.
