British Poseidons (haven’t) returned home

A pair of RAF Boeing P-8A “Poseidon” (reg. ZP803, ZP809) took off from Sigonella Air Base this morning to return to their Scottish base at RAF Lossiemouth.

The two aircraft arrived in Sicily on October 31, but no flights were traceable (evidently, they did not remain on the ground the entire time but operated with their ADS-B transponders turned off).

This is not the first time we have seen British Poseidon aircraft deployed in the Mediterranean, likely as part of NATO operations.

UPDATE

The two aircraft, after orbiting for a long time over northwestern Sardinia, returned to Sigonella before entering French airspace (FIR)
