Eyes on Russian Navy vessels

Late last night at 00:06, the US Navy’s Northrop Grumman MQ-4C drone (reg. 169659 – c/s BLACKCAT6) took off from NAS Sigonella and is currently returning to the Sicilian base at this moment (19:30 CEST) after a mission lasting over 19 hours.

The drone operated over the Eastern Mediterranean but, unlike recent missions where it patrolled off the coasts of Syria, Lebanon, and Israel, this time it focused almost exclusively off the southern coast of Syria, where the Russian naval base in Tartus is located.

In recent days, most of the Russian fleet units stationed in the Mediterranean have been reported to be in port in Syria.
