This afternoon, a dual surveillance mission took place over the Black Sea area.

Two Rivet Joint aircraft operated in the region, covering the entire western area of Ukraine and occupied Crimea with their sensors.

The first one, a USAF RC-135V (registration 54-14841, call sign JAKE17), operated over eastern Romania near the border with Moldova.

The second one, a RAF RC-135W (registration ZZ666), operated slightly further south, also flying over the Black Sea, in international airspace but within the Romanian and Bulgarian FIR (Flight Information Regions).
