Drones at work

This morning we tracked two US drones operating over the eastern Mediterranean.

A USAF Northrop Grumman RQ-4B (reg. 11-2046 – c/s FORTE15) and a US Navy MQ-4C (reg. 169659 – c/s BLACKCAT6) are conducting a surveillance mission off the coasts of Syria, Lebanon, and Israel.

It’s quite rare to see two drones operating together, but it has happened recently as well (last time on 9th July).

The area is particularly tense for at least two reasons: on one hand, Syria, with a significant Russian military presence (airbase in Latakia and naval base in Tartus); on the other, the crisis between Israel, Lebanon, and Palestine, which erupted after Hamas’ terrorist attacks on October 7 and Tel Aviv’s violent response.
