The two vessels, which will later be joined by the offshore patrol vessel ITS Montecuccoli (P 432), are continuing their cruise towards the Far East. The Italian Carrier Strike Group (CSG) will continue its voyage to Japan, visiting various countries along its route, including Australia.

During the operational projection campaign in Darwin (AUS), the ships and embarked aircraft will participate in the Large Force Exercise (LFE) “Pitch Black,” organized by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).
This exercise is a preparatory step for achieving the Initial Operational Capability Sea-based of the F-35B aircraft on board.
It is worth noting that the aircraft carrier Cavour has 6 F-35Bs (belonging to both the Navy and the Air Force, although the exact numbers of each are unknown) and 7 AV-8Bs on board.
