British eyes on Syria

On April 22nd, we tracked a RAF Boeing RC-135W (reg. ZZ665) landing at Souda Bay AB.

As has happened in the past, the deployment of this type of aircraft to Crete meant that missions in the Mediterranean or Middle East were anticipated (those in the Black Sea are carried out by assets based in the UK).

And so it was. Today, the aircraft departed Souda around 07:30 heading towards northwestern Iraq, where it flew near the Syrian border. Returning to the Mediterranean, the aircraft operated off the coast of Syria before returning to Souda, where it landed around 14:30 CEST.
