After more than six months since the last update, we have decided to provide a new overview of the Italian Navy’s naval units deployed outside the Mediterranean (the previous update is here: https://www.itamilradar.com/2023/05/20/italian-navy-units-outside-the-mediterranean/). Currently, there are 9 Italian ships located outside the Mediterranean, let’s see where:
- The frigate Luigi Rizzo (F595) is deployed in the Baltic Sea and until a few days ago was stationed at the port of Świnoujście, Poland.

- The aircraft carrier Garibaldi (C 551) (without the fixed-wing component) and the LHD San Giorgio (L9892) are in the Atlantic off the Spanish coast, participating in the Marfibex24-1 exercise.

- Patrol boats Staffetta (P408), Vedetta (P407), and Sentinella (P407) are in the Red Sea (Multinational Force and Observers Sinai mission)
- The destroyer Caio Duilio (D554) should already be in the Red Sea, participating in the European mission Spides (details here: https://www.itamilradar.com/2024/02/05/italian-assets-for-the-red-sea/).
- The frigate Federico Martinengo (F 596) is in the Indian Ocean / Gulf of Aden as part of the EUNAVFOR Atalanta mission

- The training ship Amerigo Vespucci (A5312) continues its round-the-world voyage and is currently in La Plata, Argentina. The ship will resume its round-the-world journey in March.
