The USS Gerald R Ford left the Mediterranean Sea

This morning the American aircraft carrier USS Gerald R Ford (CVN-78) left the Mediterranean Sea, along with the cruiser USS Normandy (CG-60), through the Strait of Gibraltar.

The USS Ford had entered the Mediterranean last June 15th and, after a series of delays, it was decided last week that she would return home.

After over two years, the Mediterranean therefore remains without a US naval group. We will see if in the coming weeks the USS Ford will be replaced by another aircraft carrier (remember that currently the USS Eisenhower is in the Red Sea).
