Monitoring Ufa

Yesterday, we saw how the Russian Navy tug Sergey Balk entered the Mediterranean accompanying a Kilo-class submarine, the Ufa.

The pair of units is sailing eastward and is currently off the coast of Algeria.

This afternoon, we tracked a US Navy Boeing P-8A that took off from NAS Sigonella and headed directly towards the area where the two Russian units were crossing paths, then returned to the base in Sicily. It’s possible that the mission aimed to keep a close eye on the two ships through direct observation.
