NATO aircraft monitor Black Sea activity

Significant deployment of forces today afternoon in the Black Sea area. At least 4 NATO assets are conducting surveillance missions.

In detail:

  • 2 USNavy Boeing P-8A aircraft, which took off from NAS Sigonella, are orbiting the Black Sea coast. The first is flying over the Danube Delta, in Romania, and the second is flying over the coast south of Burgas, in Bulgaria.
  • A NATO Boeing E-3A (reg. LX-N90443) is orbiting over eastern Romania, providing air space control over almost half of the Black Sea.
  • A USAF Northrop Grumman RQ-4B (reg. 10-2045 – c/s FORTE10), which took off from NAS Sigonella, is orbiting over the Black Sea south of Crimea.
