RAF eyes on southern Lebanon and Gaza

For the first time since the crisis in Israel erupted, we are tracking a RAF Boeing RC-135W (reg. ZZ665) conducting a SIGINT mission off the coast of Israel and Gaza.

The aircraft, which took off directly from the United Kingdom, is now orbiting over the eastern Mediterranean.

In recent days, we had tracked a USAF Boeing RC-135V conducting a similar mission.

Monitoring military aircraft and ships movements over Italy and Mediterranean Sea

  • Nice catch! I saw a a British refueler and a visible British fighter jet west of Crete and heading towards it. I have seen many military cargo aircraft from many nations going into Israel, including Mexico, Thailand and several EU nations. I see US cargo jets over Israel, on occasion, so it seems there is worldwide support for their effort.

Also, I saw the latest military surveillance jet on radar a couple hours ago near the capital and saw it later flying along the West Bank, up and down in a racetrack pattern.

It will take the Eisenhower a few days to cross the Atlantic. I have read a few Quora posts about how long it takes. They take into consideration the route, which normally isn’t a straight line, as well as going as slow as the slowest strike group vessel, but obviously they can make exceptions. They could do it in three days at a high speed.

I thought it left before Saturday. That was pretty surprising when I heard it left then. Anyways, that’s a lot of firepower on the deck of two carriers.
