Poseidon’s eyes on Tartus

It had been a while since we last tracked a mission of a USNavy Boeing P-8A in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Today, a Poseidon, of which we can also report the registration (169344) – a rare occurrence as these aircraft often use non-unique hex codes – took off this morning from NAS Sigonella to carry out a SIGINT mission off the coast of Syria.

Its attention is focused on the port of Tartus, a Russian naval base and a focal point in Moscow’s logistics in the region
