Fighting wildfires in Greece

The situation of the wildfires in Greece is still very critical. Many fires have broken out in various parts of the country, but some areas of the Peloponnese, Attica, the island of Euboea, and Rhodes have been particularly hard-hit.

Despite the measures taken by the Greek authorities, the situation has begun to spiral out of control.

Fortunately, thanks to the European solidarity system, several countries have sent personnel, ground vehicles, and aircraft to Greece to assist.

Specifically, within the context of aerial support, Italy and France have both sent two Canadair CL-415 aircraft each, totaling four planes. Croatia has also sent one CL-415 aircraft.

Turkey has also been mobilized, sending a pair of firefighting planes and at least one TAI T-70 (based on the Sikorsky S70i) equipped for firefighting missions (see photo above).
