Where’s Gerald?

Two USNavy Grumman C-2As (reg. 162172 & 162149) today shuttled between the USS Gerald Ford (CVN-78), sailing in the Adriatic Sea and NAS Sigonella.

The two aircraft took off from the Sicilian base around 11:30 CEST and landed on the aircraft carrier around 13:50. The Greyhound pair left the Ford after about an hour and arrived at Sigonella around 18:30.

Since the entire track is visible we are able to calculate the speed and course that the USS Ford followed when the two aircraft were on board.

The ship should have proceeded north (350°) at a speed of around 15 knots.
