New arrival in the Black Sea theatre: one of French Air Force two Beech B350 ALSR aircraft (reg. F-RACG) is landed around 14:00 CEST in Costanta, Romania.
The ALSR system is a vector of Airborne Designation, Observation, and Reconnaissance (VADOR). It comprises a Beechcraft King Air 350 aircraft with twin engines, equipped with state-of-the-art national intelligence resources. The introduction of this new system will enhance the French military’s intelligence capabilities, as it is capable of performing intelligence missions with minimal logistical requirements and ease of deployment.
Upon completion of its testing by the Military Air Expertise Center, the ALSR will provide direct support to operational forces. It will be stationed at the Evreux airbase and operated by the Airborne Electronic Squadron, just like the first ALSR, which was received on August 6, 2020.
As part of the defense component of the aeronautics support plan, a third ALSR has been ordered by the end of the 2022, with delivery slated for 2023.
