A pair of Russian transport planes is flying in the Mediterranean theatre.
The first is a Russian Air Force Ilyushin Il-96 (reg. RA-96023) which is on its way back to Russia after Russian Foreign Minister Lavorov’s tour of South America.
The second is an Ilyushin Il-76 (reg. RA-76363) that is flying between Moscow and Latakia AB, Syria.
Both aircraft flew insuusal routes due to the overflight ban of EU countries and Turkey (Ankara applies the ban only to aircraft flying to Syria).
