Poseidon Red Sea mission

Share
Share

A USNavy Boeing P-8A departed from NAS Sigonella is in flight over the Red Sea southbound.

Peculiar thing: the aircraft entered the Red Sea without ever entering Egyptian airspace, which forced it to fly first over Israel and then over Jordan.

This is the first time we track a Poseidon carrying out such a mission, but it should be noted that in the Red Sea the Russian Navy tanker Kama and, most likely, the  frigate Admiral Gorshkov are underway.

The first one effected a U-turn a few days ago (see here) and has since turned off the AIS transponder.
