(A lot of) unusual activity in eastern Poland

Since last night, we have been recording abnormal traffic over eastern Poland. Several assets have been carrying out surveillance missions for more than 12 hours.

A pair of USAF Boeing E-3A (reg. 77-0351, 76-1617, callsign NOVA01/02) is orbiting near the border with Ukraine.
Same area of activity for a USAF Boeing RC-135W (reg. 62-4131, callsign JAKE11)

Also heading for the same area was a USN Lockheed EP-3E (reg. 157318) which took off from Souda Bay AB.
Remember that US President Joe Biden’s trip to Warsaw is imminent.

UPDATE: President Biden visited Kyiv today, thus explaining this air activity.

  • Thanks for the great reporting. As the Russia-Ukraine war is supposedly picking up based on some vague reporting, it will be interesting to see what happens in the next weeks to months.
