The Russian Navy frigate Admiral Gorshkov arrived yesterday in Cape Town, South Africa. In the next few days it will move to Durban to take part in a naval exercise together with the South African and Chinese navies.

The Admiral Gorshkov  left its port of assignment, in the Murmansk area, on 4th of January for a long cruise that will take it to the Indian Ocean, via the Mediterranean (where it could stay for up to a year), the ship would be armed with new Zircon hypersonic cruise missiles.

At the end of January she deviated from its route towards the south, heading west towards the Bermuda Islands and the US coast.Somewhere in the North Atlantic, the ship simulated the launch of hypersonic missiles.

The frigate anticipated the arrival of the tanker Kama, which is currently still sailing towards the South African port.

At the end of the exercise, the Admiral Gorshkov will head towards the Mediterranean, probably via Suez.
