At the end of 2022, we learned how Italy intends to replace the current 4 Boeing KC-767A with 6 Boeing KC-46B.

But how are the current assets used?

We have collected flight data from the first two weeks of January and the areas most frequented by Italian tankers are evident:

ROMANIA: there are a number of AAR missions over Romania as part of the support to NATO fighters deployed in Combat Air Patrol missions in the area (but also two in support of an AWACS) and one flight also to Romania, probably linked to the Italian Typhoons stationed there;

IRAQ: there are also several AAR missions over northern Iraq and the northern Persian Gulf;

DIJBOUTI: there was also a logistical flight to Dijbouti where an Italian joint force detachment is based;

RZESZOW: a flight transporting military aid to Ukraine to the Polish airport of Rzeszów;

ITALY: some training flights and AAR training missions.

EINDOVHEN: a flight to the Dutch city for MM6229 which then continued (now in flight) to Albuquerque, USA.

It should be noted that MM6226, M62228 and MM62229 were used. There are no reports of any flights made by MM6227.
