Italian P-72A Adriatic mission

This morning a new mission of an Italian Air Force ATR P-72A took place over the southern Adriatic.

The aircraft (reg. MM62279, f/n IAM4101) took off from Sigonella AB and headed over the southern Adriatic Sea.

We lost the signal around 11:15 CET probably due to the low altitude (below 4,000 feet) at which the ATR was operating.
The track reappeared after about two hours at around 13:00 off Bari.

It is likely that the mission took place approximately in the area shown in the map above.

Yesterday, the Russian tanker Akademic Pashin left the Adriatic Sea and was in the Ionian Sea this night sailing south.
However, it is possible that at least one Russian Navy Steregushchiy class corvette is still in the Adriatic where the Combat Strike Group of the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush (CVN-77) is underway.
