This morning at 07:39 a USAF RC-135U ‘Combat Sent’ (reg. 64-14849 – callsign HOMER11) took off from Souda Bay AB. It’s the same aircraft that yesterday operated off Syria.

The aircraft headed off Libya where it operated first in front of Benghazi and now (11:30 CET) off Tripoli.

In both cases, the RC-135U operated within the international airspace.

The RC-135U Combat Sent is designed to collect technical intelligence on radar emitter systems. Combat Sent data is collected to develop new or upgraded radar warning receivers, radar jammers, decoys, anti-radiation missiles, and training simulators
