Several missions in the Black Sea area

Today, the entire Black Sea is under the direct control of several NATO assets.

A USArmy Bombardier CL-60 ARTEMIS is flying over eastern Romania in the vicinity of the Ukrainian-Moldovan border.

Two drones are flying over the Black Sea, both of which took off from Sigonella:

  • USAF Northrop Grumman RQ-4B (reg. 10-2045 – callsign FORTE11) which, unusually also operated over the eastern sector of the Black Sea
  • NATO Northrop Grumman RQ-4D (reg. MM-AV-SA0015) which, as usual, switched off its transponder shortly after entering the Black Sea

A French Air Force Boeing E-3CF (reg. 203), which took off from Avord AB, France, is also operating in the area (probably on the Black Sea coast, but we do not have direct confirmation of this because it turned off the transponder while over eastern Romania).
