Hot Adriatic Sea

Share
Share

The southern Adriatic is extremely hot in these days.
There are several NATO and Russian units in the area in a relatively small area.

There are at least two major units sailing between the northern Ionian Sea and the southern Adriatic: a Slava-class cruiser (the Varyag as the Admiral Ustinov is in Tartus) and an Udaloj-class destroyer (the Admiral Tributs).

Also in the area are a number of NATO units supporting the USS Truman (CVN-75), which is underway in the southern Adriatic, as evidenced by the track of a USN Grumman C-2A that landed on the US carrier this afternoon at around 17:00 CEST.

At about the same time, a USN Boeing P-8A took off from Sigonella and arrived in the same area. The aircraft is orbiting around Brindisi, probably monitoring southern Adriatic Sea in front of the Apulian city (see the image on the top).
