While a NATO Northrop Grumman RQ-4D (reg. MM-AV-SA0016) returns to Sigonella after a mission of about 18 hours, another drone, an USAF Northrop Grumman RQ-4B (reg. 11-2046, call sign FORTE11) leaves Sicily for the Black Sea.

  • what is the reason why all the Northrop Grummans (fort 10 or 11) who depart from Sigonella after take off and before landing after the mission, make turns over the gulf of Noto?

    • That’s probably because they need to get as soon as possible to 55 thousand feet (don’t know if it’s because of endurance reasons or just to avoid traffic)
