“Close” encounters in the eastern Mediterranean

Interesting ‘encounter’ this afternoon in the eastern Mediterranean: while a USNavy Sikorsky MH-60R (reg. 168092) took off from a USNavy unit sailing east of Crete less than 50 miles to the west, departing from Tartus, the Russian tanker Vyazma.

This ship is used by the Russian Navy to refuel Russian naval units.

(thanks to Sergio Scandura for the track)
