The eastern Mediterranean has once again become the focus of USNavy attention.

While a USNavy Boeing P-8A returns to the base at Sigonella, another, also departedoff from the Sicilian base, takes its place and mission.

These days, most of the Russian Navy’s surface vessels are in the eastern Mediterranean. In recent days, however, news has leaked out that a Russian Akula class submarine has also entered the Mediterranean, bringing the number of Russian submarines in the Mediterranean theatre to three.
