On Wednesday we’ve tracked a very unusual guest over the central Mediterranean sea off Libya.

In the morning of August 25 the USArmy modified Bombardier Challenger 650 “ARTEMIS” (N488CR) left Mihail Kogălniceanu Airport (Costanta, Romania).

ARTEMIS (short for Airborne Reconnaissance and Targeting Multi-Mission Intelligence System) is the service’s first ever Manned Aerial ISR jet.

The ARTEMIS program, a joint investment between the Army and industry partners, started in May 2019 and recently completed aircraft and sensor system engineering, airworthiness qualification, information assurance accreditation, integration and testing requirements.

Around 09:30 CEST the aircraft was in flight off Tripoli and western Libya making an ISR mission. The aircraft was trackable for around one hour.

It’s the first time that we track this aircraft over the central mediterranean sea. in the past we’ve tracked the ARTEMIS during its ISR missions over the Black Sea or Georgia.
