[10:05 CET] Three USAF Boeing B-52H (we only know reg. 60-009 – callsign CAKE11 of one of them) departed from the USA are in flight west of Corsica eastbound.
In the area are arriving also 2 USAF Boeing KC-135R (reg. 63-7999/59.1523 – callsign QID866/687) probably for an AAR over northern Tyrrhenian Sea
[10:30 CET] AAR in progress over central Tyrrhenian Sea
[11:40] The two KC-135R are now back to UK while the B-52Hs are in flight over Calabria eastbound followed by an USAF Boeing RC-135W (reg. 62-4125 – callsign OLIVE55)
[16:04 CET] The B-52H are descending to Fairford squakwing 7700 (general emergency)
The B-52 reported an engine failure and chose to diverter at the RAF Fairford. However, in order to reach the correct landing weight, it must remain in holding for three hours to burn fuel
